September is Family Blogging Month!

September is Family Blogging Month. The College is encouraging families to get involved in their child's class blog by reading and commenting on posts added by class teachers. We have been encouraging the students to leave quality comments. That is, comments which are written in well-constructed sentences that encourage others who view the blog to comment also. Our goal is to initiate a thoughtful, intellectual conversation on our areas of study.
Why not sit with your child and comment on any of our posts today!

What Emily has learnt about antarctica

What I have learnt about Antarctica
Antarctica is a continent in the Southern Hemisphere. It holds 70% of the world’s fresh water. It also holds  90% of the ice in the world. I have learnt that there are minke whales, krill, leopard seals, southern elephant seals, emperor penguins, squid, Weddell seal and snow petrel. These are just some of the animals in Antarctica. I also know that Antarctica is very slowly melting. The temperature will get warmer and Antarctica will melt but this should only happen in centuries also if the ice were to melt it would raise the earths sea levels by almost 70 metres. The temperature is rising 2.5 degrees every 50 years.the ice layer is 1.6km thick and the lowest recorded temperature is -89 celcies. Antarctica is a dessert and is very very cold. Antarctica is so cold that skin would freeze in at least 60 seconds. Antarctica is the 5th largest continent in the world. Antarctica is one of the windiest places on the Earth.

EXPOSITIONS

In the last few weeks we have been working on some expositions. The expositions underneth are by some of the students in our class. Kids should be able to play video games whenever they want. Do you like playing video games but your parents won’t let you? I’m here to tell you that kids should be able to play video games whenever they want. Video games whenever are educational, teach responsibility and encourage imagination. Education is really important and some games teach you all sorts of different things. There are tons of educational games and they aren’t that hard to find. Responsibility, now that’s important. Most games teach responsibility, pet games are great for teaching responsibility because they teach you how to take care of your belongings. Some people like to imagine that they’re in a magical fantasy land and you can do that in video games. Other people like games that are based on their favorite movie or TV show. Kids should be able to play video games because they teach kids, make them more responsible and give imagination. By Isaac Children should be allowed to chew gum at school. We should be allowed to chew gum at school because it takes your hunger away, cleans your teeth and gives you good breath. Gum will solve your problem of hunger. If you are hungry and you don’t have any food, you can chew gum. When you chew gum, it gives you delightful breath. When you are talking to someone you will have amazing breath. When you chew gum, it cleans the plaque off your teeth. It will give healthy white teeth. You should be allowed to chew gum because it helps your hunger .It freshens your breath and cleans your teeth. By Cooper We should not destroy the Australian bush We should not destroy the Australian bush because the trees give us oxygen, it’s home to animals and when we build buildings and factories they pollute the air. First of all it’s our bush, it’s our responsibility to look after it that means planting trees and cleaning up rubbish. Second of all when we cut down trees we lose oxygen and kill things like koalas, possums, birds and lots of other animals. Thirdly we hurt a lot of animals that live under ground like dingo’s , wombats , echidnas and lots of others. We force them out of their homes. Then once they find a new one we do it all over again and then we end up hurting or killing them. In conclusion, we should not destroy the Australian bush because it creates more work to repair it hurts rare birds and animals and to top it all it all off we end up hurting our beautiful bush and the beautiful animals with in it. ALL CHILDREN SHOULD HAVE A PET

Well, so we think! We have explained our reasons in this jointly constructed exposition: A Pet Can Be Your Best Friend Why wouldn’t you own a pet? All children should own a pet because they can bond with them and have lots of fun. With a pet, all children will have something to do. Have you ever heard the phrase, “a dog is man’s best friend?” Well it’s true. Pets are great company. When you are feeling a little low, pets can help you feel better. If you are feeling lonely, a pet can keep you company. When you form a relationship with your pet it becomes a member of your family. It has been proven that spending time with your pet makes you less stressed. A result of owning a pet is developing a sense of responsibility. Children who own pets can have jobs to do that will teach them to love and care for another life. When you own a pet you become a better manager of your time. Spending time with a pet gets children off the couch and outside doing things. Running around with a pet gives you the exercise that you need to stay healthy. Exercising with a pet is much more fun.
