This classroom blog has been established to allow teachers, students and parents to interact with and witness first hand, the learning that takes place in class 5C at Mount Annan Christian College.
Hi 5C When I think of a metaphor, I think of a word picture that describes a situation. Its taking an unrelated situation and applying it to another event. My favourite metaphor is as "busy as a bee". I like the idea of buzzing around and being busy. What are some other metaphors that you know? Mrs Todd
Hi 5C, When i hear the metaphor don't rock the boat. I think it means you have one more chance take it seriously. But would you take it literally. From Isaac S
Hi 5c, I believe this metaphor means to not spill things up. You could rock the boat by all sorts of things like not listening, talking at the wrong time and things like that. How else could rock the boat by?
Hi 5C, I believe the metaphor don't rock the boat means, to leave things alone and to not aggravate the situation. Similar metaphors are;"Don't stir the pot and Don't upset the apple cart". Have you ever used the metaphor don't rock the boat?

I haven't heard of the metaphor 'Don't stir the pot' or 'Don't upset the apple cart.' Have you ever used those metaphors? Also I've never heard of 'Don't rock the boat' So no, I haven't used that metaphor. And I have a question, do you believe most metaphors start with 'don't'?
From Olivia P.S I think 'don't rock the boat' means not to cause any trouble, or don't go to far.
